During the Roman occupation the site where the Kaserne stands was a cavalry fort. For the archeological details see < Web address >. The name "Stuttgart" derives from that time when the valley was a Roman stud farm.

The photo above shows NeckarStrasse running along the river front. Notice the vineyards in front of the Kaserne and recall the pale yellow Neckartal wine produced from those grapes.
After our unit moved to .... , the Kaserne became a (joint Army-USAF) storage location for aircraft parts.
